Re: bait stealing
Thanks for the useful info. The bait I used, salmon, tuna, yellow tail, and octopus leg, were left overs from buffet (so don't ask how I get them, but they all sushi sashimi grade hehe). Im thinking maybe try some clams, mussels, scallop, or crab pieces in the future. So far fresh raw prawn pieces s...

bait stealing
I have a lot of problems with the bait stealers at BJT. I tried fish cubes (salmon, tuna, yellow tail), prawns, and chicken breast. I tried egg loop knot and using an extra copper wire tie through the eye of the hook and wrapping around my bait... but nothing seems to be effective against these crit...

Thank you Mr Peace. Your posts are like gold. All the little techniques you described are very useful info. I think you should publish a book about this: "Basic Fishing Techniques and Recommendations in Singapore Waters"

Re: What will be the best rig for chermin?
Hello, for chermins, should get the bait out as far as possible or just 5-10 yards from the jetty? Thanks

Re: Bedok jetty during low tide
How well does the slow fall jig, like gomoku koika, work at BJT? I dont see too many people using them there. Also I worry that snagging might be a big problem especially at BJT, and they are quite expensive...

Re: Black Eeltail Catfish
Hello,
For marine catfishes, can use chicken liver as bait, instead of prawns? I figure catfishes are not particular connoisseur. I think any type of smelly meat should work for them right?

Re: BJT night
Thank you everyone for all your patience and suggestions. Finally I was able to land 2 marine catfishes.... Something decent other than tamban....
But got stung when cleaning them. Hurts like a MOTHER.... Good thing not deep and OK by now. Always learn something new everyday.

Re: BJT night
Happy CNY Sifus. I caught 2 of these the other night. They were eating my prawn parts. I know they definitely not for eating. Are they any good for baiting?? I just threw them back into the sea.

net fishing at BTJ
I saw some PRCs doing some net fishing before. kinda low key, staying near the shallow part, using just one small net... ok didn't put much thought into it. Last night, this uncle had like 4,5 nets. Huge ones, like 15, 20 feet into the sea. Doing his operation near the T junction of the Jetty. He ha...

Re: BJT night
Thanks all for the useful advises. Can suggest a good way to tie piece of prawn to a apollo rig? When I tie squid or octopus pieces, they seems to stay on fine. But my prawn kept on falling off. I tried pieces of thawed prawns with shells. I pierce the hook through the shells, but the meat just sloa...

Re: BJT night
Thank you Mr Peace. I tried the pillar fishing today around dusk. I have heard before about the danger of snagging around the pillars. Sure enough, fished up a ball of old lines, seaweed, and 2 corals. Then the line snagged and broke.... Arrr so frustrating. At night, what size hook do you recommend...

BJT night
Hello All, Sorry a bit noobie. Recently started fishing at BJT.
