Re: Angelfish Vs Batfish

Pasir Ris : Not very productive...lots of small fish stealing bait. Perhaps I've been going at the wrong tide as I've been seeing people catching plenty with cast nets. However, a guy fishing nearby at one of the breakwaters caught a huge sicklefish (40+ cm): http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1187/119...

Re: Angelfish Vs Batfish

Nice catch! whereabouts did you go? (don't mind me asking) I can't disclose the exact locations but if you fish locally long enough, you'll find that you may commonly catch Spanish Flag Snappers from southwestern to eastern waters. Re: Unknown Bambooshark

2 possibilities: Chiloscyllium indicum (slender bamboo shark) or Chiloscyllium hasseltii (Hasselt's bambooshark). Slender Bamboo: http://www.fishbase.org/images/species/Chind_u0.gif Was the fish still alive when the photo was taken? I have no pics of hasselt's bamboo shark but I'm vouching for it. T...

Re: Unidentified Wrasse

It is Halichoeres bicolor: Image. There is a black spot between the 6th and 7th dorsal spine (IP and through much of TP) and a lateral stripe.

Re: Unidentified Herring 1

Herrings are very difficult to tell apart...This individual could be a tamban (Sardinella albella or a deepbody sardinella S. brachysoma:Image. The difference lies in the gill raker count.
