Re: What kind of tilapia/cichlid is this?

This looks like a cross breed of Zebra and Flowerhorn Cichlid. If cichlid population density is high in that area, they're likely to cross breed.

Re: Sea perch

Interesting, I've not seen this fish bred at local floating fish farms before. It looks like a Japanese Sea Perch . It's profile seems to be similar that of barramundi, being able to adapt from fresh and saltwater probably makes it a suitable for local breeding. I wonder if its meat quality can matc...

Re: Charcoal Damsel

The damselfish family is pretty large, and quite frankly they can look quite similar among certain species. It probably isn't a charcoal damsel, its tail shape looks a little different.

Re: Ornate Threadfin Bream

This should be a juvenile monogrammed monocle bream, notice its large eyes and horizontal brown stripe.

Re: Freckled Hawkfish

Yes, they look very similar and the lack of unique features makes it hard to identify them.

Re: Talang Queenfish

Congrats on landing your first queenfish, sizes like this will often hit sabiki jigs and can be quite a fight!

Re: Anchor Tuskfish

This tuskfish is one of those you won't find in deeper waters, almost always near shore or shallow reefs. It's not the most prized catch among Tuskfishes, but it is one smart fish!

It should in the same family as the Freckled Hawkfish but I am not quite sure of the exact species though. I'll look into it.

Re: Hound Needlefish

Those are about 2kg, not very common in BJT but they do come in from time to time. St John's island used to have these sizes in large schools but has since diminished from overfishing.

Thanks, that was a well taken picture. There was a cloth(?) beneath the fish and its fins were well spread out.

Re: Painted Scorpionfish

That's a waspfish, possibly a long-spined waspfish. Notice how its dorsal fins are way up front compared to a scorpionfish. Do you mind if I add this picture to HLF's library as well? :)
