Re: Fish Identification

Your rig and bait is probably correct, it's just not as common as you may expect it to be. Apollo small hooks with prawn meat usually nails it.

Re: Jurong Lake

I haven't been there in a long time but I would imagine it's worth to trying out for Peacock Bass if you stay nearby.

Welcome to HLF XtremeFisherman, sorry I can't be much of a help. :flower:

Re: Stingray Rigs

Nice new surf rod you've got there. For the stingray rig, most would agree that LSBF is the way to go. Since you're specifically going for stingray, I would use a wire trace and double hooks on top of it. It safe guards against rocky bottoms and stingrays won't mind much about rig presentation. Good...

Re: Fish Identification

It is also possible that it's a Variable fang blenny, a more commonly documented species locally. Its colour (or the dark stripe) may vary depending on environment I guess.

Re: Fish Identification

I've seen one of this caught by an angler at Labrador Jetty years back. It should be a Threadless blenny but I am not entirely sure. You want to be careful when handling them as they are venomous.

Re: Daryl's Finesse Adventures!

Frenzy is pretty exciting, make the best of the short window. It's a good time to test out different types, I typically like using topwater lures for the cool surface hits. :D

The last Temensis is pretty good size!

Re: Fish Identification

That's a beauty, I remember someone caught this fish at BJT and posted on fishingkaki years back. Do you mind if I use your picture for HLF library?

Good catch!

Re: Veined Catfish

Catfish can be tricky to identify, but I believe it is. This type of catfish are common in estuaries and brackish waters. They're generally small in size as well.

Re: Finally broke a curse

That's a great catch, hope that teaches you not to mess with a 'deity' fish again. :p Superstition in fishing can be hard to disprove, especially when luck can play an important part. Then there's the dilemma if you were to catch a queenie on your first catch; keeping it is bad luck, releasing your ...

Thanks for sharing the photo. It does look pretty small, much like the false scorpionfish.

Re: Fish Identification

Looks interesting indeed, it's probably different from the usual black damselfish we catch. I will look try to look that up.
