Re: Recent Catch

That's quite a productive spot for Singapore shoreline, nice catches. I have a friend who likes that bream a lot, the meat is fine indeed. My tastebud don't agree with him though, I feel that there's a weird taste to the meat.

Thanks for sharing your catches with us. :)

Congrats on landing this beautiful Mangrove Jack, is there anything you can't land from this spot? :eyebrow:

Re: What's the Penjuru spot

Not sure where that exactly is, but Penjuru Jetty was a fishing spot before it was torn down. Another good fishing spot is behind Caltex, but the access is illegal and full of surveillance cameras. ::x:

Re: Canals/Inlets at Industrial areas

I'm not entirely sure but it doesn't look illegal. For one, the canal doesn't lead to a reservoir and second, it is not within a private property or state land. If there's no 'no trespassing' or 'state land' signs there, it should be fine. Tuas south area is an entirely different story though.

Re: Canals/Inlets at Industrial areas

Certainly looks like an interesting spot to try out. I've not tried that area but I've heard that shipyard road was a productive years back, it's probably fenced up by now.

Re: Canals/Inlets at Industrial areas

In all likelihood, I have not fished there before but I am interested to know exactly where you're talking about. Do you have a link to map of the location?

Re: Non Tenya Rod for Tenya

1) It means you typical wouldn't want to raise your rod tip as high as you usually would, but instead would be pulling the butt backwards to make up for not being to raise your rod tip higher. So it's like half tipping the rod upwards and half pulling back. 2) Working the Tenya is a slow and swift m...

Re: Non Tenya Rod for Tenya

Yes you can use it but I would use it but keep it to 60-80g range. Just be careful when setting hook, you don't want anything even near high sticking the rod. Tip the rod lower than usual and use the butt power to strike the fish. The problem with overloading in your case is not much of breaking the...

Re: Labrador park

The big shelter beside the ramp/Carpark C is the nearest. It has both toilet and vending machine, not too sure about the water cooler though but according to the map, there is.

Re: Grouper day!!

Looks like you're on a coral trout streak. <3 It's interesting how there's hardly any corals there and yet you manage to keep getting them. Good overall catch!

Re: WHAT IS THIS???

If I am not wrong this fish is from the Porgy family, possibly a Goldsilk Seabream. Congrats on catching this rare species in our waters.

Re: Pang sua canal

A typical example is Yozuri Surface Cruiser. When it comes to larger Tomans, lure size is important; not just long but it has to look big. Of course there are times where they will take smaller lures but large, noisy lures tend to get more of their attention.

Re: Grouper day!!

It looks like Tongkol but take a closer look at its pectoral fins, it's longer than typical tongkol and it doesn't have stripes. But I suppose a collective species of tunas can be referred to as Tongkol in Malaysia.

Re: Grouper day!!

I'm quite positive they were mahi-mahi, with their distinctive green colour and shape. They were about 30-40 metres out? Not too sure. They were jumping out of the water like they were hunting something. I hope you do get to encounter and catch one of these. If you do, take me a nice picture of the...
