Re: Lightstick surfcast

I too, don't think it has any significant effects. Perhaps it may attract small fishes or squid and in turn draw bigger fishes' attention. :p

Re: Fishing Line - lbs

Good guide. I personally apply extra pressure on the bottom half layer of line when spooling, reducing pressure gradually as it nears the the top layer. My reasoning for tighter backing is to reduce chance of line digging in, particularly if you intend to use high drag settings. I'm guilty of overlo...

Re: [Freshwater] Zebra Tilapia

Perhaps it has something to do with the locality of the fish caught as well. Have you tried tilapias from brackish waters? I've met two middle-aged anglers fishing outside the Pandan reservoir dam specifically for tilapias. They swore it was the best tasting fish.

Sorry for the late reply. By now, all fishing activities can resume, do take note of the 5-person limit for gathering is still in effect.

Thanks mtan8, sorry for not replying earlier. This is a good picture, though I would love one with higher resolution. Please email any additional images to handlinefishing@gmail.com, your contribution is very much appreciated.

Re: Tinfoil Barb

That's definitely a big one. You have quite a knack for trying the less commonly eaten local fishes, I must say I'm intrigued and certainly do appreciate your inputs on the taste of these different fishes. Edit: Again, if you don't mind I would like to use your fish photos for HLF.

Re: Freshwater Stingray and "Patin"

Thanks for letting me use your photos, would happen to have a higher resolution of this ray without its tail being cropped off? The ray does have venomous sting like many stingrays but I doubt it can't be eaten (don't take my word for it). It's more widely regarded as as a pet locally. :sweatdrop: T...

Re: Freshwater Stingray and "Patin"

Thanks for sharing these catches, do you mind if I use them for HLF? The ray is Motoro for sure, released by fish hobbyists. If possible, don't release these invasive species back into the waters. For the catfish, I am not too certain if it's a Patin. I'll try to look it up, catfish family is big an...

Re: [Freshwater] Zebra Tilapia

Thanks for sharing. The Zebra's body does feel tougher than the common Tilapia, maybe it has something to do with it.

Re: [Freshwater] Zebra Tilapia

Interesting! I must admit I'm not too keen on trying this fish. Were the Tilapia and Zebra cooked the same way? How would you describe the taste of the Zebra Tilapia?
