Re: Floaters for soft plastic lures
Oh I'm happy with my te4chnique and with cowboy you need a lot of skill to cast at a targeted spot.Anyway the arc yopu need for underarm -- with a strong flick behind it -- is rather shport and only present a complication if I move to waist depth.

Re: Floaters for soft plastic lures
I have been experimenting with plastic beads, tubes and such and nothing seemed to satisfy. Since I use soft plastic lures and one suggestion with those is to super glue them to the jig head weight I'm going to see if I can dab my line with the stuff -- just enough in one place to prevent the hole i...

Re: Floaters for soft plastic lures
I did some background research and the floater is a standard in European Carp fishing as the fish are enticed to the surface. Here are some links: http://delicious.com/ratbagradio/floaters They are also used for fishing for Garfish -- near the surface. What interest me in Pacific waters is bream and...

Floaters for soft plastic lures
I use soft plastic lures on 10lb light line . Since I fish estuaries by wading and casting underarm I have to be careful what I add to the line. I attach the line to the jig head and impale a lure, check its action in the water nearby then cast. That's' my usual rig. But I'm experimenting with alter...

Re: Rule #1. SIMPLICITY
Yeah. I think I've become a bit obsessed even though I'm a very new newbie without the fishing stories under my belt. But it's so true that handline caught my imagination and enthusiasm in a way that normal fishing practice did not. I guess it's like fly fishing for trout. There's also a great book ...

Re: streamlines handlines.
As a footnote. Earlier someone posted a mention about Streamlines hand lines http://www.moontrail.com/accessrs/a-misc/handline.html http://www.streamlines.com/ I got one of these rather inexpensive items from the USA. and the setup more or less doubled the length of my cast and increased my accuracy...

Re: Rule #1. SIMPLICITY
Yep. Rule Number 1 it is. I've only just taken up fishing -- and I'm 60 years of age -- but the paraphernalia of fishing and the fact that bait had a short shelf life soured me in the past. It always looked to me like bait soaking/fish feeding while the angler sat back and waited on the off chance a...
