Re: Reason for missed hookup.

Hi Peace,

Thanks for the pointers. Very valuable for me.

I have caught some belt fish in the night with success with cable car rig. But lost some as well. I suspect those are Giant Herring(lady fish).

Thanks again!

Best wishes.

Reason for missed hookup.

Dear all,
I used beak hook with live bait n hook somewhere at the top center portion of the bait fish but lost my bait whenever there is a strike. I have tried different types of sizes but that does not help.
Any advice? Thnks.

Never in my mind this wil happen - Pull back line which has a dead tamban n leave it about a foot above water. Leave it lying on the kelong railing and check on another rod besides me. Less th...

Re: Rod To Go With Ryobi Safari 5000A

There's the popular Penn Powergraph surf rod but I think the shortest available is 9/10ft and cost slightly over 150 dollars. For about 200 dollars, you can opt for Xzoga Mastery . It has 8ft rated for 12-30lbs line and 10ft for 15-40lbs line. Another rod you can consider is Expert Graphite Subtrac...

Re: Rod To Go With Ryobi Safari 5000A

Hi longislandtea, welcome to HLF. :) The Safari is pretty powerful reel, anglers matching such a reel to an 8ft rod are commonly for popping rods. You can definitely match it with a surf rod though most surf rods of such length usually don't have the power to utilize the full drag of the reel. What...
