Kayak Handlining in Batam
Dear all, I would be heading to Batam Turi Beach resort this weekend with my somewhat trusty handlines. Anyone fished there or handline from kayak before? My current strongest line is just a 40lbs mono and I have some 5, 8 and 10 hooks. Would be fishing with dead prawn and hopefully some live prawns...

Re: Canal in Northern Singapore
Congratz! :D That cats huge!t would be hard to handle, even on handline! Although i do go canal fishing, i still prefer the sea. I like the sea too. just not many accessible spots for handlining :( haha the catfish was actually okay on a 40lbs mono line. previously I used 12lbs mono and could...

Re: Canal in Northern Singapore
I've been busy so didn't post here much, I just spent all my free time fishing. Here's some update! My friend and I went over to the canal near zouk since we heard there's some interesting fishes there but I didn't catch anything except mayan cichlids. My friend caught a big catfish though! http://i...

Re: Canal in Northern Singapore
what bait and method did you use for the catfish? that was with bread and bottom rig. they are quite common in canals i think, cause my friends and I have caught quite a few Nice walking catfish, I've haven't caught that in a while. It helps to have a longnose pliers with you especially when you're...

Re: Canal in Northern Singapore
Some new fishes for me from a canal in western Singapore. As I started fishing after a shower, bite rate was low even though I could see a lot of fishes. This is a common catfish. http://i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc502/Moses-Kst/Fishing%20Joy/IMG_1219.jpg This is a jaguar cichlid. http://i1215.ph...

Re: Canal in Northern Singapore
yea, I like both new catches. maybe I'll get my own tank soon and store all the interesting fishes :P any idea what the fish with distinct black lines might be?
Re: 南.部.土.产 !
Ahhh.. roger that. Lines entangling is definitely something no one would want, especially when time is of much importance. Now that I think of it, with the wind slapping harshly and the boat rocking I might knock someone unconscious while casting, even though I'm pretty accurate on land. :p Guess I'...

Re: Canal in Northern Singapore
New fish to the list, also from a canal in northern Singapore, which I believe might be a red devil cichlid!
Re: 南.部.土.产 !
Hmmm... just curious.. would someone get discriminated for handlining onboard?

Re: Canal in Northern Singapore
I didn't manage to fish there because the storm beat me to it. Maybe I'll try next time where there's no no-fishing sign. :pinocchio: However, I waited until the storm was over and went to my favourite mayan canal. The bite rate was really bad, possibly due to the storm earlier on but my first catch...

Re: Canal in Northern Singapore
hmm but if bringing nile tilapia back i suggest you fish in clear conditions.... you wouldn't want a fish from the longkang which has lots of rubbish on your table right? probably could try some places where it leads to cleaner spots e.g reservoir? my choice would be to fry it lol about the size as...
