Mud crabs

recently, ive been going crabbing more instead of fishing and need some tips. Im aiming for mud crabs and want to ask when is the season and tide to catch them? Already have a place to crab ;)

went fishing at bedok jetty yesterday. And there was a octupus on the line :shocked: but, when i tried pulling it out of the water, it escaped back. Very few tamban there yesterday.....

What sort of trap are you referring to? :lol: trap and bait ? What do you mean by pulls very fast? Did you tighten your drag. :sweatdrop: A crab trap, and there is bait (rotten Fish) ;) inside. What if the pulls are very fast? I tried striking at those it always no hook. Or could it be a crab? although that would be weird as my trap is just 2 metres away from my bait :p p.s. what if the jetty is quite deep, say 7 metres and whole pran is used?

When do I strike during jetty fishing? Is it when the fish is biting and there is the vibrator sensation or should I just wait for the bait to be eaten fully and the fish gets hooked by itself? During my open sea fishing I just strike when there is a vibration and success rate quite high. don't know...

i guess so.... went crabbing at west coast park and tried using rotten kunning. quite effective, attracted a big muddie. however, it was clinging to the bottom of the net and was eating the bait through the holes of the net .....:p
