I regard mangrove jacks personally as one of the best pond fishes around. They give a terrific fight and their initial take is nothing short of ferocious; I remember distinctly the vicious bend in my rod when a 2kg MJ whacked my live prawn at PRP! Their meat quality doesnt fall too far short of KBLs...

Hahaha...Bro peace sure is knowledgeable. Actually, I was using a live tamban cuz my absent-minded acquaintance didn't bring anything else...his idea of a fishing trip at the jetty is to jig for tamban, tamban and more tamban -_-'. Have also tried prawns at the jetty b4....didn't seem to work though...

Haha if you're a newbie at BJT you should pay a visit on wkends [sat morning or fri nite] and take a few lessons from shoreangler. He's the Grand Master there...landed a 25kg cobia a while back. I believe queenies are kinda hard to nab on handline due to the fact that they can jump to throw the hook and are pretty fast for their size. Thus, the discerning angler should be able to keep his line taut at all times when fighting queenfish to prevent dislodgment of the hook. Kudos to you for nab...
