Re: Small barracuda

That barracuda don't look small at all and pretty darn good fishing with just a few cast.

Re: Fishing Line - lbs

Hi Foli, there are few things to consider here. 1. You want to make sure the line you're using match your rod rating to prevent the rod from overloading. 2. Consider the reel's line capacity; having enough line/line to the brim helps you cast further(especially for spinning reels). Loading heavier l...

Re: Bedok jetty CR

Ah I see, so it's likely the preying on the school of small fish and also why it took your jig. I'm still not sure of its identification though. :sweatdrop:

Re: Fish Identification

That's a Monogrammed Monocle Bream, aka Dua Bak Gor. Nice catch there!

Re: Bedok jetty CR

That's an interesting catch, I've personally not encountered this fish before and I'm not sure what if it belongs to the scad family. Are you trying to say that this is one of the fish moving in a school that you've saw or is it the one attacking the school?

Re: Atlantic Tripletail

Hi Gregory, welcome to HLF. Compared to fishes like groupers, tripletails aren't very common here. I've caught a small tripletail at Labror jetty before and have seen bigger ones caught near Kelongs up north.

They put up a good fight for sure, congrats on landing a big one!

Re: NOT MY CR BUT RECENT CR FROM MY FRIEND.

Thumbs up to the angler for landing the ray, it's nice to see a big one from Labrador Park instead of BJT for a change. :yay: Thanks for sharing your friend's catch, hope you can have similar luck this Sunday.

Happy birthday to you. :cake: :gift: :fish2:

Re: Identify fish

I wouldn't say it's impossible to be a shark or a shovelnose Ray to be there, but do you think it could be a monitor lizard swimming? It was dark after all... :p

Re: 24 hrs fishing...

Impressive size Chermin from good old Labrador Jetty. I think the fish you've caught should be a Bigeye Trevally, not sure what the Chinese name is though. It'll taste great which ever way you cook it but if it's that just one fish I'm cooking, I would just steam it to save me the cleaning up. :p Do...

Re: BJT March/April CR- interesting catches

Interesting catches and they're definitely the less common species in our waters, you must be a frequent visitor to BJT. ;) There's usually plenty of action if you use sabiki jig with prawn meat there, and more often so there will be puffers chewing off your hooks.

Thanks for sharing your catches!

Re: Unidentified Goby

Welcome to HLF, fishing_chinchilla. I'm not too sure when it comes to Gobies but I think it might be a Peacock shrimpgoby, it helps if we can see its dorsal fin. Nice little catch there.

Re: Fishing after Pasir Gudang Chemical Spillage?

I would just avoid the common farmed species like Barramundi, Red Snapper and Groupers. You can try other fishes like mackerels, sea breams, scads, yellowtails and threadfins that are less likely bred.
