Re: Restarting, need some help

Your current setup should be fine for surf fishing. For live tamban baiting, I personally think size 1 hook is a little small. In terms of strength, it is okay if you're using live baiting hooks but I prefer a bigger hook for its wider mouth gap. For surf fishing I use size 2/0-3/0 for live prawns, ...

Re: Restarting, need some help

May I ask what tackles do you currently have? What's your budget like?

Re: Restarting, need some help

Hi sjl36, welcome to HLF and back into fishing. If you're interested in surf fishing particularly at BJT, you can have a look at this website . It's done by an experienced surf angler; lots of know-how and tips on fishing at that jetty. 1) Is 5-9am a good time to fish at bedok jetty in general? Im p...

Re: Ubin Catch Report

I admire your vigor on the long hours of fishing, getting soaked in the rain no less. Congrats to your friend on landing those big duris. Psst...having to strike and feel the first burst of the fish is the most exciting part of the fishing in my opinion. :shh: Thanks for sharing your team's catch re...

I believe that's a Staghorn Damselfish (Amblyglyphidodon curacao). Good find!

Re: My Favourite Rods... :D

Nice surf rods, what rod is the spinning one? I love my Berkley Red Hot for freshwater luring, a budget rod but always brought me good luck in fishing. <3 For offshore I'm using a Shimano Tescata, great for light bottom and madai jigs, I would have got another of its heavier model if it's still in p...

That barracuda don't look small at all and pretty darn good fishing with just a few cast.

Re: Fishing Line - lbs

Hi Foli, there are few things to consider here. 1. You want to make sure the line you're using match your rod rating to prevent the rod from overloading. 2. Consider the reel's line capacity; having enough line/line to the brim helps you cast further(especially for spinning reels). Loading heavier l...

Re: Bedok jetty CR

Ah I see, so it's likely the preying on the school of small fish and also why it took your jig. I'm still not sure of its identification though. :sweatdrop:

That's a Monogrammed Monocle Bream, aka Dua Bak Gor. Nice catch there!

Re: Bedok jetty CR

That's an interesting catch, I've personally not encountered this fish before and I'm not sure what if it belongs to the scad family. Are you trying to say that this is one of the fish moving in a school that you've saw or is it the one attacking the school?

Re: Atlantic Tripletail

Hi Gregory, welcome to HLF. Compared to fishes like groupers, tripletails aren't very common here. I've caught a small tripletail at Labror jetty before and have seen bigger ones caught near Kelongs up north.

They put up a good fight for sure, congrats on landing a big one!

Re: NOT MY CR BUT RECENT CR FROM MY FRIEND.

Thumbs up to the angler for landing the ray, it's nice to see a big one from Labrador Park instead of BJT for a change. :yay: Thanks for sharing your friend's catch, hope you can have similar luck this Sunday.

Happy birthday to you. :cake: :gift: :fish2:
