Re: BJT night

Sup Kyjellly and Welcome to HLF! the nights at BJT can be rather interesting as many a times there are some decent sized fishes landed there, however i haven't had much luck there. What you could do is to tie an apollo rig with 1-2 hook, bait it up with prawn cubes and cast under the jetty in betwee...

Re: squid jig

@peace I'm not so good at eging hor! hahas. I use this chart from yamashita as a reference http://i.imgur.com/DJlY7F6.jpg It is good to bring along on a variety of colours as you'll never know which colour will be the winner for that day. My favs are the pink top with a gold body! Oh and if you are ...

Re: tamban

Tambans swims in a huge school and you can actually notice the pattern when other people on different parts of the jetty start to getting multiple hookups on their sabiki rig

Re: got scammed?

Were they in the clearance bin? When the shops want to clear some old stock, they generally chuck it all in a bin and sell em at a cheap price

Re: fishing gear for newbie....help please.

Do remember to look around and compare the prices before biting the bullet! Casting weights size 4-7 depending on how strong the current is on that day you will use a range of sinker from size 4-8, so 2-3 pieces each of size 4,6,8 should cover all grounds, you also want to get size 0.5-1.5 sinkers f...

Re: Tamban's sotong adventures from down under

Nah that night was rather crappy and i was the only person trying for something big! The Port jackson shark that i caught is considered a nuisance pest as when there's one there'll be another one or two lurking around, similar to the ah sengs(catfish) that we get in singapore   Ps. i have ...

Re: fishing gear for newbie....help please.

Hi veryk and welcome to HLF! With your budget of 300SGD you can get a decent entry level setup. Taking into consideration that you and your boyfriend are newbies, a spinning setup is highly recommended as it is easy to operate unlike an overhead setup where you require an educated thumb to control t...

Re: Tamban's sotong adventures from down under

Recently went out for another trip! but this time i would be trying to target stingrays which have been been spotted on various occasions, and i never seem to bring my heavy gear out whenever i can see them. The night was horribly slow with no squids being caught, the wind was abit strong, water was...

Re: Tamban's sotong adventures from down under

After the previous trip i texted Gerald about what was happening down at the jetty, and he was really keen on going to catch some squids as he's been on a really long dry spell. He went down during the evening before sunset but was unable to get any and was frustrated, so i suggested that he try bef...

Re: Bedok Jetty 2014 tips

The grapnel and pyramid sinkers are meant to grip onto the seafloor due to the shape and design of the sinker, this will help your bait will stay there so that the current or wind doesn't move your rig so much. However bedok jetty is notorious for snags at the bottom, I would suggest using the norma...

Re: Bedok Jetty 2014 tips

If you're adventurous enough, you might wanna use an Apollo rig with a live prawn and cast in between the pillars! There's lots of structures there for fishes to hide, and that makes ideal spot to cast! However it comes with high risks as with strong currents your sinker might fall into a small hole...

Re: cable car rigs

I haven't been to the tackleshops in SG for quite some time! But i don't think the shops sell the cable car rigs, you might wanna head down to Gary's tackle changi, he is very knowledgable about these kinds of rigs

Re: Queen fish

I believe the cable car rig would be better as the queenfishes are mainly midwater? and your live bait will be swimming in that region, whereas with a LSBF your bait will be at the bottom. Hope it makes sense! hahas

Re: Tamban's sotong adventures from down under

After spooling up my reel with new line, packing my gear, tieing my pulley rig, it was already 2am  Managed to get some shut eye and before you knew it, it was already 3.45am and it's time to head out to catch that golden hour which is 2 hours before sunrise, the sunrise in Adelaide is curr...
