First time at pasir ris pond
So after a few very discouraging and sian trips with 0 catches, me and my dad decided to recce pasir ris pond as we had been hearing good stuff. There was a small pond that provided rod, reel, bait and everything at 25 an hour, think it was called the skills fishing pond as we had to use pole rods t...

The one on the left already has had some sharpening done. http://i.imgur.com/jQFrEXA.jpg Workbench clamp...

Re: Tips for landing net
I'm not too sure, I've seen some uncles use something that looks like this
I've been searching but to no avail. Current using a home made one, by sharpening a bent metal rod

Re: Tips for landing net
I'd choose a rope gaff over landing nets because it's much more portable, especially since I fish alone most of the time. It may be a little harder to hook the fish up but I'm sure it's possible. Also, you're not restricted by the size of the net should a biggie come

Re: Crabbing at bedok jetty
I'm not sure if it's allowed, but I've tried it once, got a good sized flower crab.
Also managed to hook up flower crabs on rod and line while fishing there on several occasions, so there should be an abundance of those around.

Re: Tips for landing net
Personally I'd get a gaff over a net, the ones that can be tied to a rope.

Re: School of trevally!
It's lucky to hit a school like this but they don't often hang around very long along shoreline unless there's a concentrated source of food there. I often wish I can have an additional set of heavier tamban jig setup on standby for such encounter but it doesn't seem very practical. How strong shou...

School of trevally!
Was jigging for tambans (which were in low numbers), when suddenly hit a school of trevally!! The larger ones broke off my tamban hooks, but I managed to lend this few guys in 5 minutes :D http://i.imgur.com/jSGrEsE.jpg Looks like longfin trevally, 1 bumpnose and 1 queenie. Soon afterwards the schoo...
Re: Short CR
Once again thought it was a grouper... Yet another starry toadfish
It even looks like the one I caught a few months back!
Re: Short CR
Made a second trip to the same place... Huge hit and rod nearly flew in. I strike and the fish snapped my rod into 3 managed to unhook itself after that... Haiz
Re: Short CR
I find that the fish dies much quicker / tend to fly off when casting when hooking the body though!murasame wrote:Woah awesome cr
For LSBF you can hook the fish just under the dorsal fin to "cover" more of the fish
