actually if you read the forum enough, you might find your answers before anyone knocks off work in time to react to your questions. money spent why look back? start fishing already . . . LOL i surf FK and HLF forums during my work time. and when i reach home, i don't on my comp. (cos crashed  )

Re: Broken Rod.
my friend's surecatch rod broke off too. broke off in the mid section. he brought it to fix, but the shop owner said it's not reliable anymore and it might not be able to withstand the specified weight. so he saved the trouble to fix it and bought a new rod. that's my advice to u. but if it's at the...

Re: changi boat fishing
i went changi yacht club there last sat. the boatman name was Ben. (i donno if he's the one u are referring to) young fellow (30 odd) with quite good experience. he taught us alot of stuff cos we're quite inexperienced. he saw our setups, and was kinda disappointed. then he set up 2 rods of his own,...

Re: fishing reels
able to tahan 16kg is quite strong. i think mine only can tahan max 8-10kg. mine is basstera ev 5ft6. for offshore, it's better to get stiffer rods. short and stiff rods. cos there's no need to cast. just drop and let the current do the job. but it's not good for pond fishing. cos cannot cast far. a...

Re: 16 !
haha
our first hook up was a shark.
it was fun and we learnt alot from our boatman, cos it was most of our first offshore trips.
but there wasn't much breeze. it was kinda hot. worse thing is i sat on the left side. so my left arm is burnt, but not my right arm -_-"
