Sure, you can still go there. Just be careful not to cross over the barrier. The condition there is just not as good as before. There's still stuff to see. :)

The conditions are definitely better before the dredging work started. I believe they are laying submarine cables to Bukom and the path barely cuts into the nature reserve. A lot of the reefs have been shifted from the border to closer to the jetty side in order to save them. They also constructed a...

I used dead prawns bought from the wet market, using them in halves or whole. Live prawns will be even better, but it's very troublesome to bring.

Low Tide at Labrador Park

Just to share some pics from a visit to Labrador Nature reserve some time back before construction works take place. Some of the corals/live rocks that can be seen there: http://lh5.google.com/lycanders/RoNeQ5n2NYI/AAAAAAAAAUY/PBXfdoEiMp4/s800/coral.jpg http://lh6.google.com/lycanders/RoNeRJn2NZI/AA...

I'm not sure of the appropriate water conditions for cichlids, perhaps that's why my fishes don't last very long. I got to read up more if I want to keep fishes again.

All I can say is it's neither east or west :p The first fish is a Waigieu Seaperch which is also the same family with the barramundi . It doesn't grow very big unlike the Barramundi and are bottom dwellers hiding in rocky areas. It also tastes better than the Barramundi as well and you can sometimes...

Kranji saltwater side also got prawns that can be caught on cast net. But be careful of the soft mud and water release from the reservoir. You can use the live prawns to fish for Kim Bak Lor there, I saw people fishing for them at the mouth of the tidal gate.

My catch for today

Went to my little playground today. Very windy and very hard to fish because the wind is blowing really hard on the line. Hard to tell whether the fish is biting or not. Most of the fishes are caught on handline. :) http://lh6.ggpht.com/_zwVOCkOYFhI/TQymhylS0QI/AAAAAAAAE94/PiDF9ANP2Z8/s800/cr070107....

Nice, you're getting better and better every time. Did you cook the fish and how does it taste like? When are you going down Sembawang Park again?

If you look closely, there are inflammation at the gills and at base of the fins and tail. Probably, suffering from an infection. It died several days after I took the pic. :( I love cichlids, they are such active and playful fish.

The jetty is a little shallow, especially during low tides and there are many small fishes like glassfish and cardinal fishes near the pillars. Those are probably the culprit stealing your bait. About the flower crab, what I would usually do in your situation to get the crab is to use tamban hook to...

Good catch on that flower crab, I'm sure a fish is up next on list next. ;) As for the line, the quality shouldn't matter much so long the thickness or poundage is there. For typical usage, 25-30 lbs handlines are usually sufficient. That's roughly about at least 0.35mm and above thickness for ntuc ...

Can I use yours? :D Heh, for nature photography something with high telephoto would be advantageous, but mine just isn't :( I find photographing butterfly gatherings quite a challenge and interesting. At times, they just don't care about your presence and sometimes they just disperse upon your sligh...
