Re: Fish identity?

Heh I tried to get a picture but it swam away already, my dad did see it too though, it was long but quite far too. Was thinking barramundi but the golden tail didn't seem to match. :p

Fish identity?

Hey guys, I was taking a walk near marina south pier today, was walking along the rocky shore and was observing some todaks. Suddenly, saw this huge fellow, like really really huge, right next to the shore. From my guess I would say nearing 7-8kg. Couldn't really see what it was but it had a golden ...

Re: Failure at Changi Boardwalk...

Nice catch what's the bait used? Looks like it is a killer for the fish I use peeled fresh market prawn. They work super well on pomfrets but didn't see any of them today. Couple of others were using live prawns and they landed more kbl and groupers. Guess success depends on what they stock that da...

Re: Failure at Changi Boardwalk...

Couldn't resist another trip to the skills pond :x Today's catch is very different from the previous trips! Same time, same day, same bait but totally different catches ö http://i.imgur.com/mBBf1Le.jpg Though there's significantly lesser catches, all of them are BIG. Smallest one weighed 800 grams. ...

Re: Ulu pandan tilapias

It is not red tilapia I think is Red devil cichlid. The male look like midas cichlid with stripe. I edited this reply. I think you may be right! Google results of red devil cichlids did show some that looked exactly like the ones I had. However, both fishes don't have the bumps on their head. Also,...

Ulu pandan tilapias

Won't be able to squeeze time in for fishing cause A levels are around the corner so i thought I'd share about my cute little cichlids caught from the ulu pandan canal :p To be honest I'm not too sure what species they are, they change colors often, sometimes even turning from black to bright orange...

Failure at Changi Boardwalk...

... means success at pasir ris paypond!! Live prawns at Changi Boardwalk seemed to be awfully silent and the sun was unbearable. Sarong worms and prawn meat had no takes either, after 5 hours decided I was done here and went over to make my second visit to pasir ris skills pond LOL Used to pole rod ...

Intending to have a trip there soon, will be my first time there!

Re: Sweetlips

Almost had a second chance to use it today :( Had a big pull but it firmly embedded itself into the rocks. Might have been a grouper or a tuskfish? I slackened the line and let it be for awhile, and it eventually came out, but when I pulled it was gone  Landed two little buggers though, I shall...

Re: Sweetlips

Bigger than my offshore kaci! Great catch :) Thanks :D That's a big sweetlips for sure, nice work landing it. Looks like your homemade gaff gets to be used, was it easy to gaff the fish with it? It took quite a few tries to hook, but that might be because we forgot to attach a weight to ...

Sweetlips

Reached the spot at 7am, tide was lowest at 6.30am. Hooked a frozen prawn and cast. Around 7.20, saw my rod twitch a little.. was thinking "alamak small fish". But the twitching wasn't stopping so I gave it a strike... WOW something big was pulling  Halfway through fighting the fish it mana...

Re: First time at pasir ris pond

Not a really big fan of pond fishing but I agree that it's good family fun compared to empty handed trips :sweatdrop:

Was thinking of making another trip soon to the bigger pond this time, saw quite a number of snappers and kbl landed!

Re: First time at pasir ris pond

I've brought her to jig for tambans as well as fish for swajiam, but other than that I guess it's her first real fish :p

Was initially quite worried seeing her work the rod, thought something was going to snap ::x:

As for me... I kind of just borrowed the rod from her once in awhile
