Thanks for sharing your fishing trip today. I think the critical point was the turn of tide when you didn't have any live prawns. Chinese New Year is around the corner, perhaps that's why live prawns are short of supplies these few days. The tide is receding throughout the afternoon, you could catch...

Thank you for your support :) There's definitely more stuff I should be adding to this site, but I lack certain skills, knowledge and resources to do so. So things have been going really slow for this site :o As for this forum, it doesn't have much traffic and members nor it ever probably will. But ...

Welcome aboard joshuatang. :) Handlining is slowly fading with time as more flexible fishing techniques and tools are created to make fishing easier. Nevertheless, it is something worth learning and never forgotten. ;)

Technically, fishing is not allowed on Sentosa Island. It is stated here in the faq on its website. However, I still see anglers bringing rods in and fish without getting into trouble. I personally have close to no experience fishing there, but it seems like a really nice place to fish. The good wat...

I'm not good with eging myself but you can buy those artificial jigs and try them out at jetties or rocky shores. Labrador, Bedok and Punggol jetties should have them. If you're eging in deeper waters, say above 10 feet, you might need to add additional weight to the artificial jig to make it sink t...

Re: Do you guys keep your leader?

Most rigs can be used many times provided if there's no severe damage to the line and hook. Even with no physical signs of damage, the leader line can degrade over time by sunlight and water contact. Physical inspection should be done before and after use; test the rig strength by pulling it(with ca...

You can use the whole cuttlefish, it's just that it has a very hard hull inside its body that is hard for hooking or for the fish to bite. Removing it will literally kill the cuttlefish but fresh is always good :)

Re: Trip to my friend's Fish Farm

Nice catch again, though we should take note that fish farms aren't supposed to allow visitors to fish there. It must be very tempting to dip your hooks into the net ya ;) Did you mange to see what types of fishes they are rearing? The spotted sickle fish is pretty big, nice! It's a little difficult...

Nice, looks like you guys manage to get a dip in the 'prison break' two weeks ago ;) That's quite a haul and definitely good fun for anyone, I bet you're addicted to fishing now :p The third and fourth pic is actually ang zho, aka John's Snapper . The escapees 'red chickens' are crimson snappers, an...

CR 21st January 07

Went to my usual spot again yesterday with a friend. There seems to be quite a lot of Orh Kah Hias around but didn't managed to catch many. We used tamban hooks to jig for them and I think we could have caught more if we had those little small shrimps as bait. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_zwVOCkOYFhI/TQynf...

Looks like most of the escapees are either caught or have left the spot. Even without anglers fishing them, the whole school will leave the spot when they run out of food.

It's interesting to see that so many boats congregate at the same spot to fish. Not a bad catch still, thanks for sharing. :)

Not bad, still got chaoxi. Good thing is they're not fussy eaters, they'll take even small pieces of prawn meat or worms. They are typically found in muddy bottom so you may want to throw a bit outwards the sea if you want to catch them.
