Re: Help ID all these weirdos...
Patrick2405, I used to catch a lot of these at the river beside Whampoa South Blk 49 (catch & released). First you need to throw lots of bread (don't waste food. use expired bread or bread skin) to create a frenzy then use a light sinker with 4 hooks. Many huge Tilapia (10 - 11 inches length) and Ci...

Re: no tilapia
Normally I threw small pieces of bread to feed the guppies and eventually created a feeding frenzy involving the larger fishes such as the Tilapia and the Green Chromide. Once the frenzy started, fishing is easy using a sinker with 3 hooks (with bread skin). I have not been fishing for Tilapia for q...

Re: no cpc no mekong no red tail ... still got MARINE CATFIS
Is this place near Marina Country Club facing Pulau Punggol Timur? I went into Punggol Seventeenth Ave today but couldn't find the road leading to the seaside.

Re: Crabbing at bedok jetty
Around 2 months ago I did saw a huge crab (around 1/2 kg) caught using a crab net at Bedok Jetty (est. 50m from shore). It is one of those rectangular box net with entry from both side and split open from the middle. Quite tempted to try it myself.

Is Brown Spotted Moray Eel Edible?
My friend caught this Brown Spotted Moray and asked whether it can be eaten? If "yes", how to cook it? Thanks.

Re: Ornate Emperor
Caught this recently at Southern rocky shore of Singapore. I was surprised by the amazingly good meat quality (steamed).

Re: Blackspot Tuskfish
Caught this at rocky shoreline at southern part of Singapore with my anti-snug tackle (yet to perfect). Really strong fish with excellent meat quality.

Re: Tarpon :)
There were many Tarpons about one year ago at Kallang River behind Kallang Bahru blk 63. You can see them splashing the water as they go after the guppies. Unfortunately, they are all gone due to netting.

Re: Anti - "San Kort" weight for rockey shoreline fishing
Thanks for sharing your experience. Frankly, Todak is also my favourite but I only managed to catch a small one at Bedok Jetty using double ended float with 5 small hooks and prawn meat as bait. How can I catch the Todak at this rocky shore? I suppose the "cable car" method used at Bedok Jetty won't...

Re: Anti - "San Kort" weight for rockey shoreline fishing
Yet to make the anti snag sinker for casting but made one for pole fishing. From experience, pole fishing is also prone to getting snagged at hostile rocky sites. The one I made consists of a length of tiny steel rod with 3 small hooks on it. Caught 3 catfishes, 2 Hindu Groupers (too small - release...

Re: Anti - "San Kort" weight for rockey shoreline fishing
Indeed the weight of the device has to be just right to enable the vertical sinker to sink and be in a vertical position. I would expect to have a few trial and error to establish the right weight combination and will probably run into other issues as mentioned in your earlier email. Regarding pole ...

Re: Anti - "San Kort" weight for rockey shoreline fishing
Those things you mentioned are indeed valid points to note. Will take them into consideration when making that trial device. I do have a long pole around 10m long but it is still not long enough. I estimated it will require a 14m to 16m long pole to reach that idea spot (end of the 2nd rocky slop). ...
