Re: Jurong Lake tips/advise
That's quite a handful of questions there, I can give you very limited advice but it's best you give the spot a try first. I personally have not fished at Jurong Lake, but I've seen some baiters fishing at the jetty with no luck. Note you should only use artificial lure for fishing at Jurong Lake. If you're targeting for biggies say the Giant snakehead, you probably want to use something like a 2500 size reel with 20lbs test line. A 6-7 ft rod will suffice that matches the reel and line rating. Try poppers and minnows, they usually work well for snakehead and peacock bass. Dawn will be a good time for fishing, it's cooling and the water is calm.

Soon hocks are easier caught using bait because they don't roam about like other fishes, unless your lure so happen to past infront of it. Have you tried using other types of lure yet, give minnows a try with different types of strokes. Ie. Twitches and pauses along your retrieves.

You can slit both sides of the fish's gills (the red feathery thingy) and let it bleed slowly. There are a few ways to bleed a fish, you can also follow this detailed instructions (watch the video) from this website.

Oops, I misread your post. From what I heard, many who ate the peacock bass gave negative feedback on the taste. Bleeding certainly does help, you can do that to any fish.
