A good first try, as domvonn says you need to get closer.
Try it on those insects that are not easily spooked or move a lot like beetles, caterpillars and spiders. Dragonflies are pretty fun to shoot too. They're really playful and will keep landing near you. You can tell that they're going to fly away as they fold their wings inwards as you get closer.
