Cycling and Picture Taking Trip
It's raining this morning, so I didn't wanted to go fishing. Instead I go on a cycling trip to a forested area to take some pictures. Here are some pics to share.
An ant on a mimosa leaf
A fly on my bicycle handle. (Kim Hor Sin!:p)
They sky is really blue today and the view looks beautiful, but somehow I can't quite capture it. Any tips?
A butterfly on my shoulder, this one is hard to shot.
Saw a tortoise in a longkang
Lots of durian trees around that area too, but it's not the season yet
A bird eye's view from higher ground, you can see the reservoir from here.
And some cute puppies following me on my way out
I ran over a green snake with my bicycle on a gravel track today. It was a down slope and couldn't brake in time. But when I turned back to have a look the snake was already gone. I hope it's alright.

Re: Cycling and Picture Taking Trip
More pictures from the same area today. Didn't have much opportunity to shoot due to the rain.
Cute bug couple holding on to a fruit
A white colour crab spider waiting to snap a prey
Grasshopper under a leaf
Millipede in a Long Kang
Mimosa flower
This is one is pretty interesting, a (potter?) wasp nest built on a leaf.

Re: Cycling and Picture Taking Trip
The spider was the most frustrating to shoot because the wind kept swaying the plant back and forth. I think I spent over 15 attempts just on it.

Re: Barb Fishing
I saw some fishes in this shallow stream on the previous trip, so I return this time again to check it out. I brought along a piece of line, a small hook, and a float. The tackle is then assembled and attached to a bamboo stick I found and I'm ready to go.
At first there was no sightings of the fishes besides some tiny long kang fishes. But after some berlying of bread at a corner where it is sheltered from the stream current, the fishes started to appear. They turn out to be common barbs (or Two spotted barb) but they're pretty big in size; biggest measuring 13cm in length. I caught about 7 barbs in all.

The barb barely have room to swim in my small tank
A sick barb that took my hook
Some other pictures taken along further exploration of the area:
This snake thinks it owns the trail
Butterfly by the stream
Some wild flowers
Half a hoverfly
A big dragonfly in the shade

Re: Cycling and Picture Taking Trip
Went to scout out this stream again for more fishy. I found the two spotted barbs to be plentiful further up the stream, didn't go for them this time. I got some worms to try for some new fishes. I spotted a few cichlids, but only managed to catch one. There's a few pure orange colour cichlids that refuse to take anything I throw at it. I also caught soon hock and a walking catfish too.
Cichlid caught on worms
Marble Goby, sure bite once you know where they are.
Near the end, I spotted a walking catfish near the deep end of the stream, I rigged my hook with a fat worm and it happily took it. I lost grip of my fishing stick when the catfish decided to make a dash for it and anchored itself beneath the leaf litter, leaving the rod stuck in the middle of the stream. I tried to use my toes to grab it but I'm still short of a few inches.
Finally, I managed to hook back the stick with another line with the catfish still there
A blue dragonfly near a longkang
A robberfly
Scattered bones on a side trail which look like from a dog. I saw a few dogs hanging around this area before, I guess it could be one of their friends.
