Forest Trekking

Post by domvonn »

Peace wrote:Here's some pics to share from my forest trekking I did recently.

The first thing I came across is a tee tuu feeding on a cockroach, the cockroach was struggling to break free from the net but no avail.

There's lots of Giant Forest Ants on the leaf litter but they're hard to snap because they're always on the move and only stop for a second or two.

A millipede sleep in a hole of a broken branch.

Found this juvenile tree frog hopping on the forest floor.
Image

And found a tee tuu while following the tree frog, and it's bigger than the tree frog.
Image

I saw three stick insects, but only one I manage to spot without spooking them.

This beetle looks kind of like those that will flip when you place on the ground behind their backs.

And a giant find on this Raffle's Pitcher plant. It's one of the biggest lower pitcher I've seen so far, measuring ~27cm from top to bottom.

nice shots..the big spider shud be a wolf spider. :)

i like the millipede pic best

Wonderful pictures there.
Your shots really bring out the forest atmosphere that they were taken in.
Kudos!

Trekking into the enchanted forest

Post by Peace »

Another forest exploration where I followed a small ravine into nowhere. I wasn't as keen in looking out for stuff to shoot more than remembering my way around. I hit into sort of a dead end and my limit to getting lost has been reached. I will be exploring deeper as I get more familiar with the place, there are quite are unique dragonflies and damselflies to be shot from there.

The start of the ravine, it's pretty dry because it hasn't rained for a few days.
Image

Further up, where there are swarms of mosquitoes :(
Image

A birdnest hanging on the side of the slope
Image

Reached pretty far in where there's a waterhole. I saw a frog but didn't managed to capture it
Image

Spotted what I believe are boar prints near the waterhole
Image

Further up is pretty much vegetation where the ravine got really wide, this is a shot from above
Image

Two trees growing side by side, almost joining together
Image

A small mantis among the leaf litter
Image

A blue and red dragonfly from the waterhole
Image

Another dragonfly, brown
Image

Some sort of a cocoon, you can see the insect underneath the shell.
Image

A patch of narrow-lid pitchers.
