What's this hairy spider?

Post by Peace »

I saw this big spider running across the jogging path at the park last week. It was very fast and agile, I used a leaf to bring it back on the track to take a clear picture but it just ran over the leaf before i can lift it. On try, that thing ran up the leaf and crawled onto my hand like in split second! The horror... Incidentally, I got sick for a week after that.

What spider is this?

Wow, a tarantula...I guess that would make my first encounter with one. I think this is a feral species ya? There's this old documentary I saw on National Geographic Channel (I believe many have seen it before) showing native tribal people hunting for tarantula by inserting a piece of straw into their burrow. The tarantula gets provoked out of the burrowed and got nabbed in the end. :p They cook the spider in the fire and brush off all the hairs before eating it, and it was considered a delicacy to them. :sweatdrop: And they used their fangs as toothpick afterwards.

It's kind of weird to see the tarantula out in the open in broad daylight.

/me checks again hand for hair growing.
