Ah Ee Traditional Hokkien Salted Duck
Sembawang Hills Food Centre
590 Upp Thomson Rd, #01-28

Operating hours : 10am-till sold out (Average closing time is 4pm) (Closed on Tue)

Having no idea at all what we wanted to have for dinner the other day ...
We drove towards home aimlessly after work ...
As Simon drove nearing to the food center along Upp Thomson Road ...
We decided to have dinner there instead of heading home and order Mac delivery again. :sweatdrop:

This stall selling duck rice caught our attention.
It's new !
The stall front looks similar to those you see everywhere else ...
except that the signage is in white and words written in bold "Traditional Hokkien Duck" which catches your attention

The name itelf tells you it's not the normal kinda duck we used to eat ..
"traditional"..."salted" ... hmmm .... must try !

And yes ... Simon made the right decision.
When the food was served ... it didn't occurs to me as nice food.
A place of white rice, another smaller plate of duck meat with some cucumber
and a small saucer with some chillie.
This chilli did catch my attention though ...
It comes with some diced garlic and a lime with some light sauce.

When Simon ask me to take a bite after dipping the meat into the sauce ...
I was even more surprised as he hates the taste of garlic.
Yet keep dipping the duck meat into the sauce.

Out of curiosity ... I gave it a try too ...
The meat is lean n not fatty at all ...
taste great with the chillie n garlic combination .... it taste hot...salty...sour ...
You be amazed how all these blend so well together.

Simon like it so much ....
Went back and ta pau a whole duck for both our moms to try. :yay:

Went to have the Hokkien salted duck for dinner the other day but when we reached ...
uncle already getting ready to go home.
" finish liao " ... the indonesian lady told us politely with a smile.

Went back today ...we were lucky enough ...
He left one last drum ... sold to us at $4.

His business seems to be picking up real well ...merely 4pm and he calls it a day.
