Re: where to fish in singapore???

First of all ... Welcome to HLF :cocktail:

And next ... thanks for the million dollar question ~

Fishing to us is more like a hobby ... something we do to pass time in a healthy way.
It's getting pretty tough to fish in our small little island call Singapore.
Though we are surrounded by sea all round .... more than half of our land are either restricted or not allowed for fishing.
What's left for us to fish ?

Make good use of what ever is allowed and available for fishing.
There are plenty of nice fishing places set up for anglers.
Google and it's not difficult to locate these places.

Now the 2nd part of the ans ...

See ... you did catch fish didn't you ?

If you are looking at size, quantity and quality in your catch ...
That will requires you yourself to put in a little more effort to understand your spot.
The terrains, the fishes that inhibits those waters, the types of "food" they like to "eat" etc etc ...
Look around those people fishing besides you ... what are they catching ?
What are they using and what did they catch ?
Try to "kaypoh" a bit when a catch is landed, be it big or small ...
You will be rewarded with some valuable infos and probably a fishing kaki.

All these said ... good luck in finding your "fishing spot" :clover:

Re: where to fish in singapore???

Glad to see you get back into fishing, but unfortunately the fishing itself has progressively worsen over the years. Due to rapid coastal development throughout the island, we're left with very little spots we can fish. I think spots we can fish legally and comfortably can be counted by our ten fingers.

I think when it comes to shore fishing in Singapore, we have to lower our expectations. If you want to increase your chances to land fishes, you probably to need to go on more trips and perhaps use more than one rod at a time to beat the odds. Restricted/illegal spots are still rather productive but I would say it isn't worth the risk and trouble you can get into.

For slightly more productive and legal places, you can try fishing at some offshore islands instead, like Pulau Ubin, St John's Island, Kusu Island, Pulau Semakau (CNR only) and Pulau Hantu. There's also boat fishing and pond fishing if you really want some thrill in pulling up fishes. :)

Re: where to fish in singapore???

welcome to HLF.
glad you're back to join this interesting sport that many people think that they'll get fishy, but, i think so too, BECAUSE I ALWAYS GO HOME I SMELL MY SHIRT I CAN SMELL UNTIL THE MARKET!!
HAHA. enough of nonsense. LET'S GET SERIOUS!! try fishing at labrador jetty. it's not a very bad spot to fish, good scenario, much clearer water than bedok jetty and at the very end of the jetty, the water is quite deep. but dont fish along the main aisle of the jetty because you'll be fined. let me give you an advise, when fishing, don't meow. seriously and when you're eating fish, don't talk. =D
haha.
