rod enquries
hey peace. i just reliased that there is a line weight on my rod which says 8-16 lbs. does that mean my reel should have 8-16 lbs line ?
Re: rod enquries
Yes bro ... it is the line weight recommended by the manufacturer.
You wouldn't want to go over the upper limit so as not to over stress the rod.
Using too heavy of line is one of the main reasons of rod breakage.
The ideal line for this rod in your case will be either 8 ~ 16lbs.
Hope this helps.

Re: rod enquries
hey thanks oh one more question. the line weight for my rig can be 30 lbs ? wont affect right? and can i use a surgeon loop to loop a swivel ?
Re: rod enquries
Yeap yeap ... sure you can use 30lbs as rig line.
It very much depending on what rig you tie too ....
You may use 20lbs too ... shouldn't be a problem.
And as long as you are confident in the knots you tie ... anything works be it surgeon or not.

Yes, as dBs said it's safe to use 30lbs leader, the rating on your rod is meant for your main line. Surgeon knot is fine but make sure you lubricate and tighten the knot properly.
