Re: Breakwater fishing
It depends on how far the rocks stretches out and how inclined they are. Things you can do to reduce snags are:
1. Fish during high tide.
2. Use a longer rod to elevate the line while you retrieve.
3. Use a reel with bigger spool diameter and high gear ratio. ie. more line per handle turn.
4. Reel back really quick without stopping.

Re: Breakwater fishing
I never liked fishing from breakwater because of the snagging problem, every retrieve carries the dreadful thought of sangkut and I have to keep my fingers crossed while frantically winding the handle. I love fishing at breakwater dropoffs during low tide but those wet algae can really give you a nasty slip.

Thanks everyone! Can't go, do not have the right tackle yet. Any good place to share, anyone? I only know labrador park. Is fishing allowed on sentosa?

Re: Breakwater fishing
Labrador is a nice place to fish but too bad the jetty is currently closed. Fishing is not allowed in Sentosa. Much of the shoreline from west-south is off limits to fishing, sadly.Darkknight wrote:Thanks everyone! Can't go, do not have the right tackle yet. Any good place to share, anyone? Re: Breakwater fishing
There's definitely Barracudas and Barramundis at Bedok Jetty. For cudas, anything goes. Just use those night tambans (Tua Baks) live or even squid is fine. For Barramundis, they usually hide just below the jetty so you can just lower your line down with live prawns. You can simply use a handline with heavy poundage for it, a good way to target for groupers as well.
