Re: low profile bait caster..
so you are going on boat trip har? congratz.
actually beach road is like 'it fair' where you will be spoilt with choices. one place where a lot of tackle shop gathers. it also means there's competition. so the price should be competitive too.
most importantly. shop A tells one story, shop b within walking distance, you can go find out if their matches, still not convincing, find shop c.
you find changi selling your desired reel at 85$. and your neighbourhood shop selling 92$. how?
try sourcing your neighbourhood first. if there price difference does not exceed your travelling fares. then on, stay on support your neighbourhood one. you will get your loyalty bonus someday. http://www.handlinefishing.com/whosfish ... ectory.htm

That's good advice there sgpu. Sometimes we go too far to get a good deal we forgot the overall cost incurred. Support your neighbourhood shops so they can stay in business while you have easy access to fishing equipment when it is not convenient to go down to Changi or beach road.

Re: low profile bait caster..
where is your house?
personally i don't use low profile BC reels. but definitely seen one. as it's title suggests, the low profile shape don't seem capable of loading lines suitable for offshore fishing. usually offshore fishing, line strength requires 20 - 30 - 40lbs or even more. the line diameter increases too, affecting the amount of line you can load. local sea depth measures roughly 30 - 50 metres, so just make sure you load enough line, another 50m?

I think u can try on Shimano Crestfire and a 6-14lb/10-20lb baitcast rod and u can use lures on it!!!limfish wrote:Im turning 12 next year....

line strength would have to see what type of fish u are targetting.
for big fishies, i think u would at least need 50-80lbs.
length wise, yeah u need to load sufficient lines.
and that depends on tides too.
so diameter is important too.
