Wat is the difference between mono line & braided line?wat is braided line used for???

I'm pretty sure it's been posted before but I'll just give a short summary. Both can be used for fishing but with some key differences that interest anglers.

Mono: Has stretch and high diameter: line strength
Braided: No stretch and low diameter: line strength

Braided will give you a very stiff feeling and highly sensitive to fish bites, low diameter means you can cast further and use lighter sinkers for bottom fishing. It also means you can store more lines in your reel. These few advantage alone has made braided lines increasingly popular among anglers.

Mono has a memory effect, it is elastic so that makes fighting fish a little less straining on your tackles and you. I personally like to use mono for its 'less sensitiveness'. Some fish can get rather cautious and are hestitant to bite if they feel the 'stiffness'. Mono has great shock absorbing properties, which is why braided users still use a short length of mono just before connecting the terminal tackle.

I find braided line tends to "peel off" after use. Is it normal or due to abrasions?

Heh yes, braided lines are very hard to untangle. That's why some surf anglers prefer to use mono unless they're very sure of their casting. Some braided lines do come with a coating on it and it wears off with use but it doesn't weaken the line, or at least not significantly. Certain brands of braided line also get easily 'furry' than others, this is normally not due to abrasions.
