tamban help

Post by midniteguy » Sun Dec 26, 2010 10:03 pm

i went fishing for my 3rd time on 25th dec overnight at bedok jetty. very very suay whole night only caught 7 tamban with 2 rods.
1st & 2nd time i went caught over 50. but on 25th hardly get one. fishes also got public holiday one ar?

the tide was very very high. saw a lot of ppl getting cat fishes. some uncle even got 6.

so my question is, what tide is good for tambans? and does weather play a part?

Heh, good question. I've actually a number of them on slow and fast current, but easier when there's current. I can't be sure what factor influences their numbers around BJT. They're attracted to light so maybe moonlight can have some play in this, but I am just guessing. Yes, weather is probably can affect the bites rate by changing the salinity and temperature that may not favour the tambans.

Interestingly, they take on bait like prawn meat unlike day tambans. I use them when the current is slow or when the jigs aren't working.

Funny cos i also went there at 25 december what can say is that tamban is out of season seriously im quite an often angler there everyweek so i do see tge decrease in tamban catch rate even at night maybe try during summer where the monsoon period is over my bet is that the tamban prefers warm water most probably they went into deep sea that my opinion
Usually its not where you fish but how you fish .

I'm not sure if attaching a lightstick will work but its area of lighting is small compared to, say a kerosene lamp or a lamppost. The fishes will be able to see the lited area from afar and congregate around the lited area.
