Penn is a pretty reputable brand, but I think what you're looking at could be a boat rod. Price is alright, considering you don't have to travel far to get them cheaper. :)

It all depends where and how you're going to use it. Boat rods are perfectly fine for jetty fishing as you may not necessarily cast far out. It actually have the advantage of better leverage of the fish compared to longer rods when you need to force a biggie diving under a jetty pillars. But if you're fishing from beach or very shallow waters, you will have trouble with casting.

It's the NTUC at Bukit Panjang Plaza. They most have fishing tackles from SureCatch and Penn. There's not many rods and reels to choose from though, but enough to set you up for a decent fishing trip. :)

Just went down to Giant Hypermart at Tampines (or rather Pasir Ris, cos it's nearer) and found there is a section for fishing stuff too.

Those marts will never be able to compete with tackle shops as they're tackles are so limited in variety. But they're a good source to buy simple accessories like sinkers and line which it doesn't seem quite worthwhile to travel to tackle shops to buy, especially when they're far from home.

I think it's a good idea to list out all the little places that sells fishing tackles aside those pure tackle shops. They're useful for a quick resupply of 'consumable' tackles.

I'll start a new thread on this :D
