What type of fishing are u referring to and what bait are u using ?
Generally, for live prawns ~ size 1/0-3/0 and prawn bits ~ size 8-10
Fishing is unquestionably a form of madness, but happily, for once bitten, there is no cure. --Francis

Yes it depends on the type of fish you're targetting. Big hooks have better grip and it's important when you need to put high pressure on a fish such as stingrays or yanking a large grouper from a wreck. Large sized baits will naturally require you to use large hooks too.
