I wad just wondering about some things
1.for a cable car rig at bedok jetty, souldi use a weight and what size hook will be recommend, also why size hooks would be suitable for using live prawns?
2.is fishing at west coast park allowed?
3.where to buy a rope gaff or a net that is usable on bedok jetty and the prices.
4.im starting to wonder if anyone has any news of the sibu kelongs
5.lastly, what rigs should I use for SW pond fishing?

1. For main line to anchor to the bottom, you definitely need a sinker. I would use the heaviest your rod can handle for casting, a minimum of 3oz is usually a good start. If you're fishing directly away from the current, you can use light sinkers. Hook size for live prawns are good with size 2/0 or 3/0 depending on the size of prawn.
2. You can't fish on the viewing deck and the outlook deck near the marina, other than that you can fish along the breakwaters. Always check before casting as there are lots of park goers walking along the shore. You'll find the corner near the canal a slightly quieter place to fish, but it's only good during high tide.
3. Rope gaffs are usually diy, you may find the weighted umbrella hooks from certain tackle shops. I can't remember which shop I saw it from though. Alternatively, some hardware store can customize the gaff hook for you.
4. Not sure on this.
5. I don't frequent ponds so I can't help you much on this too. Which pond do you fish at?

fishing is not just about buying equipment, but DIY things can save you lots of money hehe!
You want join three big hooks together to make the gaff hook but it's not easy to keep the individual hooks from moving unless you wield them together. Be sure to make sure the DIY gaff is sturdy enough to withstand a large fish, you don't want the catch of your lifetime to drop back into the sea before taking a picture.
Most tackle shops will sell hooks large enough to make a gaff, especially those that keep old stocks for some reason. Some will also sell ready made gaff hooks.
You typically need about 18ft or more in length to reach the water surface during very low tide. Such nets are typically not available on the market and must be custom made. Another alternative is the use of drop net, but it requires you to guide the fish into the net which holds the risk of entangling your own line with the rope.
Well i always try to go at the high tide and seldom low tide 2.6> but where can i get those drop nets?
would tiring the fish until it cannot swim alot help?
I've not seen drop nets in our tackleshops selling but they're quite common in other countries. You can probably buy this online, try ebay or some online tackle sites. It doesn't look too complicated to diy though. Tiring the fish definitely helps with the landing but prolonged fights aren't usually favourable on jetties. Larger fish don't tire out fast and may still have the strength to dive into structures when near the jetty.
Another way if you do not have landing net is to drag the fish all the way back to the beach. It takes a while but it eliminates the risk of lifting the fish out of water.

Also can u DIY those keep nets into the drop nets?
Most keep nets have rims made from plastic or thin stainless steel wire. I suppose it can work but I suggest using something sturdier. Perhaps you can use an old or discarded landing net(those they use on boats) with a strong frame instead. The reason being you need the rim to stay in shape when you deploy it and possibly have some weights added to counter current flow.
