I have heard about this kelong and was just wondering what equipment to bring there
I heard the catch is mostly groupers
I was wondering g what size sinkers, line poundage, rigs etc to bring if I were to go
Also I am wondering where I can get live prawns in the morning before the boat ride or is there live prawns at the kelong?

When is your trip? Yes, it is a nice kelong to fish in. Have went there a few times, quite comfortable to fish in. Besides fishing, the food there is awesome ! (remember to pack your lunch if you are going there in the morning)

There are no live prawns at the kelong from i last went. You could get your live prawns at Changi before setting off. There are lots of snags in the kelong, i would recommend rig with short snook, you gotta be fast and best is not to have your rod unattended,

7-7.30am will be a safer bet for the tackle shops to open.

How much should I bring(live prawns) for one day

It will depends no of pax who are using the live prawns and if there will be other baits you will be using.

300-500 grams per pax will be safe I guess. The rebait rate is quite high.

Its most probable gonna be 2 ppl im not sure but I guess 3-400g should be enough an️️yways I hope to get a grouper there? Any tips and tricks for groupers? NVR caught one before
Actually once but it was a small one and we managed to get it out of the rocks
Also what line poundage would be sufficient?
Is 35lb SSBF with a size 2 hook ok?
I Dun want to be under prepared when I get there sry for asking so many questions

I've never been there before but from what I've heard the groupers are just below the Kelong itself. There are a lot stilts, those that you can see supporting the Kelong as well as those that are broken and sunken. You probably will need very heavy lines to overcome the abrasion with the structures you'll definitely encounter when a fish takes your line. Short snood Apollo rig is preferred as it reduces the chance for fish to coil around the structures below. I would use size 3/0 and 80-100lbs leader line for such fishing.

Something under 20$

As strong as 100lbs line might seem, it's pretty weak against abrasion. If you're fishing directly below the Kelong, there's going to be a lot of sharp barnacles that can even cut it with enough pressure from both ends. You don't need expensive line for the job, any nylon fishing line with considerable diameter will do. Dupont is not really necessary but its stiffness help reduce leader line from twisting and wrapping together.

You can cast out the Kelong for sure, and line weight requirement will not be as heavy. Don't worry too much about the gear, just go there and enjoy the place. If the atmosphere suits you, you'll be back there again next time knowing the exact tackles to prepare.

Haha yes thanks for all the advice indeed more for relaxation lop but I seem so determined to catch a decent fish lol
