Hi guys just curious, has anyone landed sharks, specifically Blacktip reef sharks from the shore using surfcasting? What set up is recommended for shark fishing? and where are some locations to try out? :)

Sharks can be quite common along our shorelines, you can sometimes see anglers landing them on at Bedok Jetty. Some of those are blacktip and blackspot sharks but blacktip reef sharks however, I believe are less common near our shoreline.

In our surrounding waters particularly the southern islands, blacktip reef sharks can be quite common. I've landed quite a few on my offshore trips, ranging from Pulau Jong, Semakau, Sudong and Senang area. Fishing from St John's island is probably your best bet on getting them on surf.

They have very sharp teeth so you will definitely want to to use wire trace on your rig. If you're specifically targeting for that shark only, don't be afraid to use large hooks and large bait, preferrably a whole live fish.

Good luck!

I have a 9' Penn Prevail rod and I love it. I have a few different reels I swap around but my fav is the bail less penn spinfisher.
