I noticed that too, they must have been aiming for the head of the lure. The red rings around the eyes look appealing to me, maybe it does to the fish too. :p

Okay, I finally managed to land an adult Speckled Pavon again. This one is bigger than the last one though not as beautiful. With that, I can finally give the basses a rest.

On my personal observation, the population of these basses seem to overwhelm the area forcing other species of fish to make way for them. I don't see many snakeheads compared a few years back. The ones I see now are found near very shallow waters where large peacock bass cannot reach.

Okay, the tide this week isn't really suitable for my spot so I decided to dip another round of freshwater. Nothing new except this pavon tops the biggest one so far, I guess I really can do better. :p

They're the same species, just one matured(top) and the other(bottom) still a juvenile, or rather somewhat adolescence. As it matures, they start to lose those speckles and the black bars become more apparent. The latest adult one I caught is slightly more greenish though.

Thanks. But one thing to note, even a productive spot needs to adhere to the golden hours of freshwater fishing. While I still can get fish during midday, the fishes are not as aggressive and sometimes totally ignore your lure. :sweatdrop:
