Fishing in the rain

Post by Peace »

Not quite a trip I was prepared for, the weather had turned ugly in a very quick pace. Efforts to escape would have been futile so I stayed on and fish. I saw several peacock bass surface actions but they don't seem too interested to take my lure this time round, there were to hits but there was no hook set.

Unlike me, the toman seems excited about the rain. Previously I saw it swimming around uninterested in my lure, but when it started to rain it only took a few cast to get its attention. I'm surprised it can focus on the lure with all the noise and ripples from the rain.

Although the snakehead isn't big, it managed to put a hole in my lure. Now I have to get all the water out and seal the hole with super glue. :(

The entire lure looks pretty beaten just after a few trips.

Thanks for the replies, most of the motivation actually comes from me wanting to test out the camera. I'll be heading back to saltwater after a few more trips. :D

That goes to show how strong teeth those tomans have !
Imagine if they bite you ... :mischieve:

And Peacy refused to retired the exhausted lure .... poor lure ... gonna get torture till you lose your colour I guess.
I notice once a lure get punctured, even with us removing the water and sealing it up ...
It loses it's original "äction" ... it's never the same any more.

Heh, you know me, I don't retire my mods lures till they can't work anymore. ::x: :mischieve: I will have to test out the lure again after patching, I believe too that it may not swim as well as it used to. :(

Haha yes, that is correct.

Yeah, hooks have a high tendency to get dislodged when the fish jumps. There are two school of thought; one is to taut the line when the fish jumps while the other is to slack the line. I personally stick with holding the line taut, but not too tight. :)
