My catch for today

Post by Peace »

Went to my little playground today. Very windy and very hard to fish because the wind is blowing really hard on the line. Hard to tell whether the fish is biting or not. Most of the fishes are caught on handline. :)

All I can say is it's neither east or west :p

The first fish is a Waigieu Seaperch which is also the same family with the barramundi. It doesn't grow very big unlike the Barramundi and are bottom dwellers hiding in rocky areas. It also tastes better than the Barramundi as well and you can sometimes sold in the wet market.

The Waigieu Seaperch can be easily identified with by the brown stripe near its mouth.

I used dead prawns bought from the wet market, using them in halves or whole. Live prawns will be even better, but it's very troublesome to bring.

Like rods and reel, it depends a lot on the place you're fishing and the type of fish you want to catch. But the apollo is known to be quite effective rig for most uses. I use it all the time. It consists of a leader with 1-3 branches of your choice.

It looks something like this

Apollo and handlines work great together.
