...not really, 950grams to be exact. I caught it on the final hour of my depressing fishing trip, it rained all day and I was already half wet before I reach the fishing spot. I fished on with a poncho along with several other brave anglers. I managed catch 6 tambans but end up exchanging them for a remora.
The rain stopped in the evening and the water looked nice and calm. I was finally able to get out of that stuffy poncho and pay better attention to my rod. A passerby told me my rod was twitching and a short observation told me it's a crab on the line. 90% of the time, this would be those annoying Long-eyed Swimming Crab. But I gave a strike anyway in attempt to foul hook it, it's been pilfering my prawns all day.
My heart beat a little faster when I felt a heavier than expected weight on the line. I retrieve steadily without pauses so the crab won't have a chance to break free. A mud crab surfaced and it was swiftly brought up while I was simultaneously praying hard for it not to let go. Upon landing, I actually discovered that the hook was lodged in its mouth, a size 3/0 hook.
I ate the crab today, I'm kind of disappointed that the meat isn't at its fullest. I think it just molted recently, no wonder its shell is so clean and nice. Bummer.

Re: CR: 1kg Crab!
The crab is already in my tummy, sorry it was so delicious I forgot about the pics. I got to start wishing for more of these tasty crabs instead of fishes. Oh yes, getting kiap by such a big claw is no joke, got to be extra careful to keep my fingers unmangled to pry open the crab shells for dinner.

Cool ... sure is a big mud crabby ~
It looks really huge in your tiny little ice box.
I got sick of eating them at one time ... they were easy target.
Will surrender them self to shore searching for food during high tide and best ... on a full moon night !
I am not sure why they are more "visible" during that time of the month ...
and most of the time ... are the bigger meatier version ~
So looking for a mud crab dinner ? ... go search for them during high tide at night with a torch ...
You see a pair of red eyes staring at you ...
* wink wink ~
