The three of us wasn't quite satisfied with the fishing on New Year's Day so we went fishing yesterday to try our luck again. We bought some live prawns and armed with a big bag of leftover dead prawns fisher 'ordered'. It was already crowded when I got there but it's no surprise since it was a Sunday, there were still room for us and our neighbour anglers were pretty friendly.
We concentrated on using the live prawns from the beginning, however there were hardly any bites despite the swift moving current. We saw other anglers getting Selars and Orh Kah Hias and were tempted to catch them too. The two managed to catch about 10 fishes in a short span of time while I was busy cutting prawn meats for them. It quiet down after that as the tide comes to a halt, a flathead took on fisher's rod and was quickly noticed by him due to the line slack.
No biggies on this trip but I find it rather enjoyable, at least much more so than the last.
The overall catch for the day
A baby mackerel caught on tamban jig.

Re: CR: Scads!
The Selars are still around, just not as many as a month or so back. You can pretty much catch it anyway with some sort of structure with strong current. Changi Kelong Walk, Bedok Jetty or Labrador Park definitely have them.
The mackerel was actually used as bait by fisher on his surf setup but it was devoured by an unknown fish(?).

Re: CR: Scads!
I certainly went back for more this week. Despite the extremely slow current, they're still playing around the area. I manage to nab at least 10 of them, that sort of makes up for the fun I missed last week. I will be steaming these selars instead of the usual frying since Oinkie highly recommends it.
