Re: Crabbing cr 1
That's some impressive crabbing results, your long awaited trip has not disappoint you. The crabs are pretty big, it must be some secluded spot huh? I await for your good news from your trip tomorrow, good luck!
Re: Crabbing cr 1
Which crab taste the best? I guess it must be that female one since it looks like a cross breed with Sri Lanka's. Try boil them (complete crab/ no cut open) in salt water. Get their original taste. Super yummy!

Re: Crabbing cr 1
the female very watery =/ quite dissapointing, if u wan buy crab look for those wid dirty belly, brownish colour, meaning got meat, but if u take those wid white underbelly, very watery, taste not really there
Re: Crabbing cr 1
Yes. You are right. The species of the crab is one thing while the meaty level of the crab is another very important consideration. And indeed, those with dirty belly normally has more meat due to its maturity and better still if it has not changed its shell for some time and has developed a 2nd layer of shell underneath ready to changeout. This type of crabs are most tasty!

I am a crab lover. In term of delicacy, I would probably rank the Sri Lanka as the best followed by the green crab, the purple crab and lastly the S. Olivacea (also locally known as "red leg crab"). That is how I select crab at Sin Song supermarket and of course I do consider the maturity of the crab in the process (weight of the crab/ hardness of the bottom shell/ dirty coloured shell etc..). What is your ranking?
I am thinking of crabbing at Bedok Jetty. Do you think it is worth trying? Surprising I do not see anyone crabbing at BJ.

i see b4 1 uncle use cages there, he used leftover food to catch the peh tor. bedok jetty i think like no crabs, lol
as for my crab ranking, i would love any colour if the belly is not white.
1 more thing, i find that green shell crabs have a higher chance to have a white underbelly

u know why no ppl crab at BJT? coz net is not allowed to be used at BJT.furthermore, the current is very strong your cage will drift and get stuck easily.
