Just keep trying and I'm sure you'll hit one. Labrador is a good place to fish for chermins, I've personally seen people landing them all around the park. ;)

Try using prawns instead, dead or live ones doesn't matter. Use the whole prawn to target chermins, peel the shell if you're using dead prawns. :)

O cool ... someone is out of the alley collecting Chermin's bones..
It's being a long time since we last see a Chermin from you ...
Nice work and I am sure you had the whole fish all to yourself right ?
Well ... you sure deserve the fish of your hard work.

More to come ~ :clover:

Hi Peace,

Nice Chermin, one of my favourite fish both for sports and taste.

May i ask which spot at Labrador you fish from since the long jetty is closed. Do you fish at the left side of the park (facing sentosa) or front side (facing Bukom).

How far do you cast out (i assume you are not using float)?

I love fishing there too. Not too many people. Two weeks back, saw someone caught a really huge Moray Eel (thick as a man's throat). Another person caught a ray and a shark. Apart fm that, have not observe any other catches.

I only like to fish at the jetty since I don't have to risk my sinkers. The best fishing spot in Labrador park is probably the stretch facing Sentosa from Dragon Teeth's Gate to the Red Beacon. Of course, fishing there isn't an easy task. If you tried fishing there before, you'll know that you got to reel in really fast to hop past the seaweed and rocks. Sangkut rate is pretty high but that is really a good spot. Most people who fish there will use long surf rods.

I'm kinda the lazy type so I hang around the less snaggy areas. I don't, or rather can't cast far because I don't want my live prawns to fly off the hook. Casting distance is not really an issue because chermins do come in quite close to shore. I'm using bottom rig with added floater to keep my prawn out of crabs' reach.

Welcome to HLF, starfish. :) :starfish:

Peace,

Thanks for sharing. I may try there this weekend again.

Wonder when the long jetty will reopen.

The forum here pretty friendly and open.

Have a nice day ahead

Yes, the jetty is still closed but that did not keep out some hardcore anglers there. ::x: I too hope it can be re-opened soon, if at all.

I can't remember the size because I threw the packaging away but I believe it should be a size 1 circle hook. (Slightly smaller than 1/0). I got a picture of the rig here if you're interested to try out. :)
