Sadly none landed by me :(

Two part fishing trip!
In the morning, went to barrage to fish. Here's where we saw our first big fish! Right next to the shore, was a huge tuskfish, looked around 3 kilos!! Tried to whip out my float + prawn but it was gone by the time I was ready :(

Catch at barrage

1 decent sized blue lined hind and tuskfish
Small groupers and snapper
One stupid sergeant that died swallowing my hook >_>

went back home and rested for our night trip, changed spot.

When we arrived, set up rods, waited... Suddenly this dude beside me pulled up the biggest grouper I've ever seen inshore.

8kg tiger grouper oh my god

Afterwards, another guy at the other side landed a 3 kg stingray... No photos though.

But where is mine????
suddenly, I hear my bell go crazy and my reel screaming!! BIG FISH ON!

After abit of fighting, a big baraccuda surfaced!!! About a meter long, felt about 4kg (?) but we didn't have a gaff or net... Tried to pull it up and it gave a large struggle, snapping off the line :(
We will be back!

Ended the second part of the fishing trip with this

1 deep sea kbl
1 caoxi
2 rays
2 grunts
1 silver biddy

Big fishes indeed, that grouper is a Giant Grouper. The big tuskfish you saw is a good indication on the spot's potential, you might just see it again in the future(I hope!). I've met an old angler who told me the sergeant fish is actually a quite tasty fish once you get past clearings its stinky guts. I've never tried it though, but I am hoping to hear comments if you do eat it.

Too bad you didn't have a way to land the barracuda, I'm sure you'll be better prepared on your next trip. Good effort in getting the fish this close. An amazing catch report, it's encounters like these that keep our passion burning.

Had the sergeant steamed with sour plums, flesh was actually very sweet and soft, though you were right about the stinky guts

It should be a true Giant Grouper. Hybrids(tiger+giant) do look similar but are more commonly found in the northern waters and much smaller in size, probably due to the tiger's genetics.

Haha, thanks for the feedback. Maybe it's time for me to try it one of these days.
