Recent catches

Here's some recent catches from the past weekends :)

Two trips at my usual spot, armed with 200 grams of live prawns!

First trip started out a chermin and bigeye trevally landed on live prawns.

Managed to jig a small squid and casted it out but the hook came back empty :(

Also hooked a live tamban on handline, and there was a hard take and line was pulling out fast. Gave it a yank and wow! Something super heavy was on the line. Tried to pull it in for a few seconds but suddenly the line got cut.... might have been a barracuda?

Second trip started with me trying to get small squids once again for surf.
Instead, I was hit with a big one @350 grams.
There was no bites for awhile, so I changed the to a jig of a different colour, and got an immediate hit. This time, with a bigger one at 550 grams

Didn't manage to land any other squids after that.

Afterwards, I noticed my handline (baited with live prawn) had fallen over. Went over to pull in the line to check on bait, and realized that the line had gone slack. No tension until it was reaching near the surface, when I suddenly felt something heavy and pulling

Up came a sneaky little grouper :p

And that was the end of trip two!

Nice consistent good catches from you, I find it harder to say you've got yourself a good spot but rather you're becoming a better angler. :eyebrow: That chermin looks pretty big.

That's a good haul there! Here's a tip when eging, try to downsize your squid jig even more to get more hits when there isn't much activity, i've went all the way down to size 1.5 and it works wonders ;)
By the way, i'll be heading down for an overnight trip on labour day to test out my toy that i got from japan! It's an underwater lantern that supposedly emits a certain light frequency and attracts the fishes and squids. let me know if you're keen to join :D

On the night of labour day itself or the night before? If it's the night before I'll be free to join :)
