It was the firs time I saw a really big pull since start using this rod... so was a bit nervous... lol... heart bite jumped... tot my rod is flying into the water.... quickly take rod and strike... but did not set hook, fish gone after 2nd pump...
throw back almost same spot... pull again within the next min... not as strong pull as the first one... again...pump... no fish... bait gone... lol
last min....feel heavy at the end of the line... but no fight leh... must be rubbish la.... In the end.... saw this cute craws waving to me... 1 decent size crab which decided to say goodbye after reaching the breakwater... must be sleeping... hit the head against the breakwater.... lol

will be back soon... wish me luck.... yet to caught a BIG fish from the BIG Ocean... hope will get one decent one soon

Cheers Ian

That's a nice croaker you have there Ian, I believe it's not a fish that I have on site. Note that the tail has a flat end whereas the common gelamas we catch have rounded tail. Also, the mouth is slightly wider as well. Do you have another picture of the fish from the top? Good luck on your next fishing trip, may you land a biggie soon. ;)

I don't think so, the tiger-toothed croaker is has a more slender body, smaller eyes and different tail shape though the same colour. I think the fish you caught looks like a Big-head Pennah Croaker (Pennahia macrocephalus) or possibly a Greyfin croaker (Pennahia anea) . :)

Went back to the same spot, better luck this time :D

I call these fishes sleepy fish... cause everytime when we nearly fell asleep, they wake up up by shaking / bending the rod...

Fishes with my "trademark" plier... :p
Everytime reminded myself to change to other things for comparision of the size of the fish... keeps forgetting....

This looks like a good spot indeed, especially if you're able to hit something everytime. ;) Maybe if you bring a hammock with you to sleep in, you'll get even better results! :p May I ask what bait did you use to get the Pike Conger?

hammock can but if rod bend must run very far... lol

we used kelong sotong all night long... hmmm... kelong sotong is a popular bait there though someone did advise me to bring live prawns the next time round =)

Very nice catch there raspiritz, got fish and cuttlefish too! You must try the toadfish, ask domvonn for the secret recipe. The grouper still got the prawn feelers coming out of its mouth, and it looks like quite a big prawn too.
