Mission Failed !

Went stingray hunting as plan.
Reach spot as early as 5pm ... hoping we get the best seat of the house.
Yes we did ... half an hour late and we have to take the 2nd best spot on the small tiny beach.

Current was choppy though out ... did lure some squid in from far but they refused to take
Jessie landed one green eye for the surf casters as bait.
Simon used the squid's head ... got a hookup but did not managed to set hook.

Jessie emerged winner with the landing of a green eye and a nice size wa bee

Hey that's not wabee, it's a kapas! You know, the meatier one. :p Not bad, at least something decent took away with the squid head.

I did some fishing too but didn't get anything big on the line. There's quite a few small fishes to keep me busy on my handlines though. My rod landed me only tambans and a cute little queenfish. My floater seem to do pretty good, it caught me a wolfy and a second time something took away with my hook leaving a clean cut on my line. I'm going for a wire trace next time! :mischieve:

So where is your side exactly? ;) Actually rabbitfish can be found along almost our entire shoreline, but spotting and catching them is another matter. :p
I did some fishing with a friend this week and I didn't caught anything on bait. I took out my jig to play and saw a group of wolf herrings following back, swarming excitedly around it. I gave the jig a 'mad dance' to entice them and they took it, but they throw hook on 3 occasions. Finallly managed to foul hook one up. :D

Some update on my recent catch. Caught a coral trout this time but I let it go to fatten up some more before I come back for it. :mischieve: Also caught a long eyed swimming crab, they're really fast at stealing my bait.

I caught several leng jiam this time round, no biggies though. All caught using prawn meat, lots of small fishes kept stealing my bait, lucky I brought enough for everyone of them.

You better ask your soldiers to triple up while you're at it because they've got a diamond to beat! :eyebrow:

It's really a hot day and the current is barely moving. I thought I would go back empty handed but luckily this chermin came and made my day. I should have gone back early after I've landed this fish as I practically got nothing after that, it just doesn't pay to be greedy!

Though we have no shiny mirror ... we 've got something from the sea too worr~

Look ... I got a big fatty squid. :D
It's definitely did not weight 900g but it fought like a fish. lol !
Taken very near to shore, grab my jig and chow.
Steal some line from my reel before I tighten it a little.
No one even realize I landed a giant squid though the guys were merely few feet away from me.
Coz I kept cool and enjoyed a game of thug of war with the squid.
I won the game of course.

When I was happily showing off my catch ... there came another happy voice from the back.
Steven landed a flat head almost as soon as I landed mine.

Tide was down going ...
We cast a few more throws into the dark and decided to head off to a nearby kopi tiam for a drink.
By the time we left ...it was already 1am in the morning.

A nice kopi session ... recalling all those memorable moments we had on our offshore trips. :coffee:

That's not bad at all, a big fat squid and a flathead to complement with. Squids are sometimes like fish, hesitate to bite and follow the lure back, and only strike when it sense the attacking window is closing. On another interesting note, it seems like most of your catches are from night while mine is all from day, no wonder we'd never met. :p
