This is a jigging trip so not much time to take photo.
We did have a few burst line when the biggie took our jig.
We lost about 15 jigs between 3 of us.

We be back and be better prepared.

Looks like a fun and light trip(except the 9 hour drive :p ), good place to hone your jigging techniques. Thanks for sharing the catch report, the video is nicely done as well. Is that a salty fighter you're using for this trip?

The one that landed the small GT is the new salty chief.
I am using a Awa-shima (Blue colour)

Great rod for light jigging but ring is too small as we needed to use 80lbs leader. With FG knot it still a bit problem to go thru the tip.
Other than that a great value rod. This is the PE 0.8-1.5.

I've seen the rod before, the first two guides indeed are indeed quite small. May be if you cut the leader end to a smooth taper, it'll go through easier. I believe the thickness and stiffness of the leader contributes to the obstruction as well.

Wow ... 2 Drivers 3 Anglers ... 9 Hours !
Who is the lonely driver ? 9 Hours alone is not fun at all ...

Video nicely done!
Lumut seems an interesting place to visit for fishing.
Thanks for sharing with us here in HLF.
And hope you guys will be better prepared for your next trip to dig out the monster there.
Good luck ~ :clover:

I am the one driving from Sin to before lumut as it highway. Before exit to lumut my friends took over as he know lumut abit.
The drive should only take 7hrs but we have 4 stops.
We manage to find a lobang for a trip to a Kelong there for on RM30 per pax. Will try it next trip.

Wow ... sounds pretty interesting for a RM$30 kelong trip.
Malaysia is a wonderful fishing place if you know who, what, where to go ...
Best is to know some Malaysian fishing kakis.
They will take you to all the interesting places to have fun !

Hi Raymond,
My experience of boatfishing in the seas off Pangkor Island
covering Pulau Sembilan is using fresh ikan bilis for bottom fishing.
The fresh ikan bilis can only obtain from the ikan bilis trawlers.
The fishes caught there can be GT, sakai, queenfish, chermin,
plenty of chincharu (stiff tail) all very hugh ones, upto 3 kg or more.
batang using live selar, groupers, stinkray, school of selars at
times near the buoy areas.

Thanks for the advice. Now I am moving to popping & jigging.
Now waiting for the chincharu season and we will go again.
Light casting tackle will be great fun and will bring another PE2-3 rod for jigging.
