That's quite a good catch and seems everyone has something to show for. I'm sure ilurbtambans has learnt a valuable lesson on this trip he will not forget, and this is one of the reasons why we shouldn't start off we pricey rod for fishing. :p

And what's the story on the snapper that lost its tail? 0.o

Alright ... I like this charter !

Looking around for night charter and this one fits the bill.
Clean nice boat and what better ... interesting CR.
He is on top of my want to try out list !
Come come ... join dBs for some night fishing ~
Yes ... I hate the sun !

Very impressive catch and I am sure this is gonna be a very memorable trip for Tammy.
I am very confident to say he will not forget about this trip.
A very valuable lesson though a bit expensive lesson learnt. lol !
Golden rule regardless of where you fish ... watch the angle of your rod tip !
If mama ray comes a visiting ... you have two choice ...
Wait and pray for her to stop or use a pair of scissors lor ... hehehehe

Start looking for a new rod ... go back and have your revenge !
Nice catch and good luck on your next night outing ~ :clover:

Sup guys :D all catches are from southern island on michaels boat, I still can't forget the experience I've had there. Initially from 7pm till 2am there were no bites at all, morale was low but around 3am was when all he'll broke loose Hahas :p
I started the ball rolling by landing a 7kg ray, followed by the organizer with a 11 kg ray. It was non stop bites till 5 + am.
As for the ray that broke my rod, it was a good experience, don't gan chiong while fighting, take your time and fight the fish and do not high stick your rod at any time as what dbs said
@alleycat the ang Zho was like that when it was landed by one of the members sky inboard, guess whatever fish that took the tail was generous enough to take a small bite lol :p

Not true. The more expensive rod will be able to withstand the big bend while the cheaper rod may not due to the material used.

Congrats Tamban on your catch.

Cheers

Not true also. Regardless of cheap or expensive, good or not so good rod ...
the most important thing is ... watch the angle of your rod ...

The mighty pulling force of a biggie combined with a steep strike angle ... clash of the titans ... either one got to give way.

Cheers ~ :p
