The tenggiri is one prized catch, Simon seems to be having all the luck these days. ;) Look at him in his half soaking shirt and still fishing on. And that todak looks really big, I don't think I've seen one this size in our waters. Jess must be really proud of it, lol.

Was this the trip where some big cobias were lost? Can't wait to see more pictures.

Yeap, 3 huge cobias lost, each estimate at 20Kg.

But hor ... no pics on that episode. :(
It happened too suddenly n all was soaked in the excitement, angie too.

The 1st cobia took the bait of one of the two angler who were still fishing.
I remembered it's about 2am early in the morning.
Current was fast moving, flying kites with size 20 sinker.
Most gave up n went to sleep.
I was sleeping in the sheltered area at the back of the boat with Jess.
Woken up by such loud screaming ... " fish gona chiong under boat !"
I sat up with blurry eye ....
Just in time to witness two huge brownish mess dashed under the boat

Angie started to screamed! Jess woken up.
The angler who hookup the cobia still fighting the fish.
Line still peeling out, rod bend to such ugly angle I thought its going to break.

Then, Jess pointed out to the darkness not too far on the left ...
A 3rd cobia joined in the fun!
Now it's 3 cobias swimming closely ....
Before we even have time to make way for the angler to come over to the back
as fish was hookup in the front.
The deckhand in the front screamed out so loud in malay
the voice pierced right though the darkness.
Another rod belonging to the same angler has another hookup!
Jess sprang so fast right to the front n set hook!
Yippy now we have 2 cobia, 1 on the left 1 on the right. :D

By now, all anglers woken up by screaming n shouting.
Amazing thing, the 3 cobia swam side by side ....
The angler with the 1st hookup fought n managed to surface fish right near boat.
Now all three fish was clearly in sight ... they were damn huge!
Boatman wanted to gaff at the 3rd with no hookup
We told him not to just gaff at the first.
Who knows ....

He missed ! o god !
The boatman missed the fish while lifting it up.
Fish drop back into water breaking free the other 2 in a loud splash!
All look at each other in disbelieve.
It was so close :(

O ... forgotten about Jessie's part
He was holding tight to the rod allowing the other angler to land the 1st fish.
Then all of sudden, the disappointed voices n the sudden loose line
He knew it was gone forever.
But he sure have fun fighting a big cobia at least for few mins.

Well ... though didn't manage to land any of the trio
The experience n sightings will remain in our memory for a long long time.

Wow, of three the cobias on the line, you would think at least one would have been landed. Perhaps it was because it was late at night the deckhand wasn't at his best and it was too dark to accurately gaff the cobias. Those three cobias will stick together from now on and live to tell their the stories to other fishes.

It must have been good fun fighting the cobias no less.

Drop by Kota Tinggi for lunch before we head back to Singapore.
Friends bring us to this very interesting place ..along a very long "river" longkang.
What catches my attention was ...while having lunch ...heard lots of birds "chirping"
swallow to be exact.

Looking right opp the river, friend pointed out to a building with some small openings at top
allowing the birds to enter.
It's a house specially made for them so bird nests can be collected.
Brilliant idea ya. ;)

Image
The "ren min" restaurant serves very delicious food, chef is a lady !whole shop run by women. :D

Image
Look just like any other building isn't it ?

Image
Look closely ....

Image
Birds going in n out of their "house"

Image
Take a nice look at the river which flooded the town last year.

Image
A cruise into the land of the fireflies ?

Image
The sign board says it all ...firefly cruise ...no pics!

Image
A final chit chat before we head back to Singapore.

Yes good quality over quantity yet again.

Sedili is very much over fished now :(
Even the cuda are getting smaller.
Thanks to the increasing trawling activities and they coming nearer to shore for their catches.
Destroying the seabed and bringing up the small ones
Resulting in a steep dip in fish stock. :(

Hianz ...looks like it's happening everywhere.

As anglers ourself just do our little part by releasing those small ones.
Hopefully they get to grow big n keep their generation going ...

We are planning to head further up to places like Penang, Sarawak n Sabah now.
I have yet to land a double digit fish leh ... :p  :clover:

Good luck in your fishing adventures and send my regards to "her" ;)
Your cute little princess ah! :rose:

Wau ... heading to further up places like Penang, Sarawak n Sabah would also be my dream sport fishing locations ....
and normally fishing in these places - one would plan for a long trip anything from 4 days to 1 week ... thats my problem in leaving behind my princesses ..

But i'm sure I'll one day arrange a good trip to all these places ... and when you guys are there, be sure to take double the portion of photos
I'm sure you'll get all the big and colorful species there .... Good Luck!
